The Marvelous Letter M!

Hello Pre-K Families and Friends!

We had another wonderful week at Pre-K, and we have begun our units on the letters of the alphabet!  This week, we read the book, Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman, and looked at words that start with M.  We sang a song about monkeys in the trees, and about the marvelous letter M. Our students did an EXCELLENT job returning their library books.  Please continue to talk with your child about treating their books kindly.  We just ordered lots more books for our library, and we will be excited to get those into circulation soon.

Next week, we will focus on the letter S, as well as begin a unit "All About Me."  They will start with talking about themselves, their body parts, and their likes and dislikes before moving in to talking about their families, friends, and community.  We are excited to begin some exciting art projects in the library as well.

Volunteer training is on Thursday, September 6th at 9 am at the Pre-K Center, and we would LOVE to have some volunteers to help out in the media center!  If you have any questions about the volunteer training, please don't hesitate to call and ask about it.  We love our parent volunteers!

As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Warmly,

Welcome to the media center!

Hello amazing Pre-K parents!

We are so excited to welcome your students into the media center and to begin to build a love of literacy!  Last week, your students became oriented into the wild world of the media center, learning about book care and what we can and cannot do with books.  This week, we began a year-long series on phonemic awareness, starting with the alphabet!  We read the books Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, always a Pre-K favorite, as well as The Z was Zapped

Our students were also able to check out books from the library for the very first time.  Please help your child to take good care of his/her book and to bring the book back on his/her library day.  Here is the letter you signed agreeing to book care and fines for your child if you need any reminders.  We cannot tell you how much we appreciate your support in caring for our library books and increasing your child's access to literacy!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or suggestions for our media center.  You can call us at 912-876-0773 or email us at staylor@liberty.k12.ga.us.

Thank you for your support!
